Noah Beach camping area

Noah Beach camping area is a compact rainforest campground in the Cape Tribulation section of Daintree National Park (CYPAL). It sits about 50 metres from the beach beneath a dense forest canopy, giving campers shade and some shelter from the sea breeze. The appeal is simple: sleep among the rainforest and walk to an undeveloped tropical beach, while accepting very basic facilities and little margin for oversized vehicles.

Sites and who it suits#

Queensland Parks lists Noah Beach for tents beside your vehicle, camper trailers and small campervans. It specifically excludes caravans, buses and large or high campervans because overhanging trees and tight turns restrict access. Do not rely on the ferry height limit alone: a vehicle may fit under the Daintree River ferry's 3.20-metre limit and still be unsuitable for the campground road.

The sites are separated through the forest rather than arranged like a holiday park. That gives many pitches a private feel, but vegetation also limits turning room and usable space. Check the official campground map before choosing a site, particularly with a camper trailer.

Facilities and what to bring#

Facilities are limited to composting toilets. There are no showers, powered sites or campfires, and the official booking listing does not advertise drinking water. Bring all drinking and cooking water, a fuel stove, rubbish bags, insect protection and enough supplies for the stay. Mobile coverage is officially unavailable, so save your permit, map and emergency information offline.

Noah Beach is exposed to a tropical coastal climate despite its canopy. Heavy rain can quickly change road and track conditions, while mosquitoes and biting insects are part of the environment. Check the Daintree park page and alerts immediately before travel.

Getting there#

Access is by 2WD via the Daintree River ferry and Cape Tribulation Road. The park itself is open 24 hours, but ferry operating conditions govern road access. Confirm current ferry information and vehicle restrictions before setting out, and arrive in daylight so you can negotiate the narrow campground turns and identify your booked site without disturbing neighbours.

Beach and safety#

The beach is close enough for an easy walk, but it is not a managed swimming beach. Crocodiles and marine stingers occur in Far North Queensland waterways. Follow all signs, keep well back from the water's edge and never assume water is safe because other people are swimming. Food should be secured from wildlife and rubbish taken out with you.

The forest canopy can also drop branches, particularly after wind or heavy rain. Inspect the ground and overhead trees before setting up, use only the booked footprint and move away if signs or rangers identify a hazard. Keep the beach access clear and avoid disturbing vegetation between sites.
