Amity Point Campground fronts the calm western side of Minjerribah, looking across Moreton Bay rather than the open ocean. It suits campers who prioritise sunsets, fishing, boating and a broad choice of powered or unpowered sites over direct access to Point Lookout's surf beaches.
The campground is large and comparatively open. Site location matters: waterfront views, shade, distance to an amenities block and exposure to insects are not uniform across the property.
Ferry access and arrival#
Address: Basin Drive, Amity Point QLD 4183
The official campground page lists sealed-road access suitable for 2WD vehicles. Campers bringing a vehicle must separately book the ferry from Cleveland to Dunwich. The operator's island-access guide says vehicle bookings are essential, and SeaLink puts the crossing at about 45 minutes.
Camping check-in is 11am and check-out is 10am. Take the confirmation or booking number to receive your camping tag and amenities access card; these are not automatically sent before travel. The campground permits one vehicle per site.
Site types and setup limits#
Amity Point currently advertises:
- 143 unpowered tent sites, with a 6m x 6m footprint;
- 30 unpowered van or trailer sites; and
- 26 powered sites, some with views across Moreton Bay.
Surfaces are grass or sand. Powered positions range from 6m x 6m to 9m x 10m, so measure the full rig, including drawbar, awnings, slide-outs and rear attachments. Ask the booking team to confirm fit instead of selecting on power alone.
Each site accepts either up to four adults or two adults and up to three children or infants. A camping permit is limited to 30 days. The campground also has cabins, EcoShacks and a three-bedroom house, but those appear as separate booking inventory.
Facilities, water and boating#
Facilities include potable water, toilets, timed hot showers, coin-operated laundry, an undercover barbecue area and the operator's chemical-toilet dump point. There are no public-use fridges. A nearby convenience store sells fuel, and the community club, cafe and boat ramp are close to the campground.
The western shoreline is known for sunsets and boating. Minjerribah Camping describes the water as calm and says dolphins, pelicans and koalas are seen around the campground, but wildlife encounters are never guaranteed. The beach is not among the operator's year-round patrolled beaches, so supervise children closely and check local conditions rather than treating calm water as automatically safe.
Good mobile coverage is advertised, but there is no campground Wi-Fi. Dogs, generators and open fires are prohibited, and the campground is smoke-free.
What campers say#
Patterns in Tripadvisor reviews and a detailed independent Amity Point account help explain the experience:
- Bay sunsets, wildlife and easy fishing or boat access are the most consistent reasons guests choose Amity Point.
- Campers often describe the grounds as open and generally level, with useful shade from mature trees; exact shade still depends on the allocated site.
- Amenities at different ends of the campground reduce crowding, but a large site area means walking distance can matter when choosing a position.
- Sandflies and mosquitoes are a recurring warning, especially near the water and in still conditions. Pack effective repellent and keep tent mesh closed.
- Families value the open space and calm-water setting, while surf-focused visitors may prefer Point Lookout and drive there for patrolled beaches.
These are traveller-reported patterns, not guarantees about insects, wildlife, shade, quietness or site allocation.
Booking and cancellation terms#
Book through the official booking portal. Full payment is required to secure the booking. The site price includes the first two adults, with additional eligible guests charged at the live rate.
The current terms charge $20 for a change made at least seven days before arrival and $30 for a change 1–6 days beforehand. Changes cannot be made within 24 hours. Cancellations at least seven days ahead receive a credit valid for 12 months, less a $30 fee, rather than a cash refund. The terms also list a $30 cancellation fee at 1–6 days but do not clearly say whether the remaining balance is credited, so confirm directly. No refund or credit applies with less than 24 hours' notice or for an early departure.

Does Amity Point have a dump point and drinking water?
Yes. Amity Point has potable water, toilets, timed hot showers, coin laundry, an undercover barbecue area and the operator's campground dump point. Water availability does not mean every site has an individual tap.
What is the cancellation policy?
