Ocean Beach Tourist Park

Ocean Beach Tourist Park is a small beachfront park in Miami for campers who prioritise surf access and walkability over resort facilities. Bushland and the headland shelter the ocean side, while cafes, the surf club and the Gold Coast Oceanway sit just outside the gate.

There is only one camping category and no advertised pool or playground. That simplicity makes the choice straightforward, but the compact footprint and popularity mean equipment fit and date flexibility matter.

Location and arrival#

The official overview places patrolled Miami Beach directly beside the park. The Oceanway passes the entrance, Nobby Beach's cafes are a short ride away, and Surfers Paradise is shown about 8km north on the official park map.

Sites check in from 11am and check out by 10am. Contact reception in advance for after-hours entry; arrivals after 8:30pm are not allowed under the current terms. One vehicle is included, and the visitor parking area is outside the compact camping loop.

Powered sites and setup#

Ocean Beach's powered-site page lists sites with either:

• a concrete slab; or
• synthetic turf.

All include a powerhead and sullage drain and accept a range of equipment types. Record the preferred surface in the check-in details, but treat it as a request rather than a guarantee.

The maximum is six guests per site. The base rate includes two people, with extra nightly charges currently listed as $10 for children aged 4–15 and $15 for adults. Live rates and minimum stays vary by date.

Measure the full equipment length, including drawbar, rear attachments, slide-outs and bike racks. Site allocation is based on those details. Caravans must be positioned with the drawbar toward the road, and the vehicle and camping setup need to stay inside the allocated boundaries.

Facilities and practical limits#

Published facilities include hot-shower amenities, accessible and parents' bathrooms, a camp kitchen, barbecues, coin laundry, kiosk and chemical dump point. A seasonal coffee van visits during Queensland school holidays and long weekends. Surfboards are among the items advertised for hire through reception.

There is no park Wi-Fi. The guest information says most areas receive excellent mobile coverage and 5G. Some positions may detect the City of Gold Coast's SurfNetwork, but speed and availability are outside the park's control.

Ocean Beach is 100% smoke and vape free. Pets, generators and open fires are prohibited. Quiet time is 9pm–8am. The park does not advertise a pool, so beach swimming depends on conditions and lifesaving patrols.

What campers say#

Recent Tripadvisor reviews, CamperMate reports and Google excerpts on the official page show a consistent profile:

• The short walk to the sand and easy access to surfing are the defining strengths.
• Clean amenities, tidy grounds and helpful staff recur across recent sources.
• Guests often describe the small park as quiet and friendly, with many regular return visitors.
• The limited footprint is part of the appeal but reduces inventory and privacy; early booking matters for popular dates.
• Value opinions are mixed when minimum stays or peak rates rise. Check the live total rather than relying on a reviewer's historical price.
• External works can change the noise experience. One Tripadvisor report mentioned nearby tram works, while other recent visitors described quiet nights.

Booking and cancellation terms#

Book through the official booking portal. Off-peak stays require the first night's deposit, with the balance due on arrival; peak bookings are paid in full when booked.

Written off-peak cancellations within 28 days forfeit the deposit. Peak charges are 25% of the total booking from 40–29 days, 50% from 28–15 days and no refund at 14 days or less. Minimum stays, event conditions and prices can change, so retain the confirmation.
