Main Beach Tourist Park

Main Beach Tourist Park is a compact, central Gold Coast park for travellers who want the beach, cafes and public transport within walking distance. It sits directly opposite a patrolled beach and close to Tedder Avenue, with Surfers Paradise about 3km south and Sea World about 2km away.

The park is not a sprawling resort. Its value is the location, seasonally heated pool and choice between ordinary powered sites and private-ensuite sites. Exact equipment dimensions matter because the layout and parking are tight in places.

Getting there and checking in#

The official overview highlights nearby bus and tram connections as well as access by bike. The beach and surf club are across the road, Tedder Avenue's dining precinct is a short walk away, and the coastal route leads toward Surfers Paradise.

Standard powered sites check in from 11am, ensuite powered sites from 12pm, and check-out is 10am. Contact reception before travelling if you need after-hours access; the current terms prohibit arrivals after 8:30pm. One vehicle is included per site, with extra vehicles subject to space, approval and a fee.

Choosing a powered site#

Main Beach has two camping categories:

• Powered sites accept caravans, camper trailers, campervans and tents. Most have a concrete slab, while the official map also identifies powered grass sites. Each has power and a sullage drain.
• Ensuite powered sites combine synthetic turf with a private shower, toilet and vanity, power and sullage. There are 24 of these sites.

Both categories take up to six people. The published base rate covers two guests; extra nightly charges are currently listed as $10 for children aged 4–15 and $15 for adults. Rates are dynamic, so the live booking quote is final.

Supply the full length of the rig, including drawbar, slide-outs, rear attachments and bike racks. The operator allocates positions by equipment type and size, and preferred site numbers are not guaranteed. Caravans must be placed with the drawbar facing the internal road.

Facilities, connectivity and rules#

Facilities include a seasonally heated swimming pool, children's playground, recreation room, camp kitchen, barbecues, hot-shower amenities, coin laundry, kiosk and chemical dump point. The accessible bathroom and baby-change room require a reception key and deposit.

There is no park Wi-Fi. The guest information page says most areas have excellent mobile coverage and 5G, making mobile data the practical option for travellers who need connectivity.

Main Beach is 100% smoke and vape free, including outdoor shared areas. Pets, generators and open fires are prohibited. Quiet time is 9pm–8am, and children under 12 must be supervised at the pool and other park facilities.

What campers say#

Recent and recurring themes from Tripadvisor, CamperMate and public Google excerpts on the official page help set expectations:

• Walkability is the strongest pattern: guests repeatedly value the beach, surf club, cafes, Tedder Avenue and transport links.
• Clean, modern amenities and helpful staff recur across independent sources.
• The park and some individual sites feel compact. Measure carefully and do not expect the privacy or turning room of an inland park.
• Many campers find it calm despite the central location, but event periods can change traffic, demand and the atmosphere.
• The pool is a useful extra rather than a full waterpark; one CamperMate reviewer noted limited poolside seating.

Booking and cancellation terms#

Book through the official booking portal. Off-peak bookings require the first night's deposit with the balance due on arrival; peak bookings are paid in full at booking. Equipment details need to be accurate before allocation.

Written off-peak cancellations made within 28 days forfeit the deposit. During peak periods, cancellation charges are 25% of the total booking from 40–29 days, 50% from 28–15 days, and no refund at 14 days or less. Minimum stays and dynamic prices vary by date and event.

Can't get a booking?#
