Carrington Falls campground

Carrington Falls campground is a tiny four-site camp in Budderoo National Park near Robertson. Its appeal is location: waterfalls, lookouts, rainforest walks and swimming holes are close, while the campground itself stays deliberately basic.

This is not a small caravan park. It is tent-only, with camping beside your vehicle. There is no drinking water, shower or campground barbecue, and all fires are prohibited. Read those constraints before booking, because they determine whether the site fits your setup.

Sites and vehicle limits#

The official campground page lists four marked, unpowered sites. Each site has its own picnic table and parking directly beside the camping area. Only one vehicle is permitted per site.

Tents are the only listed accommodation type. Caravans, campervans and camper trailers are prohibited, correcting older generic descriptions of the campground. Online bookings can cover up to 12 people or two sites; NSW National Parks says the campground is not suitable for groups.

Facilities and what to pack#

The visitor information lists a small unisex pit toilet, a small picnic shelter and an accessible toilet. There are no showers, no drinking water and no rubbish bins.

Bring all water required for drinking, cooking and washing, plus rubbish bags and a fuel stove. Fires are prohibited. There are no built-in barbecue facilities, although NPWS says visitors may bring a gas or electric barbecue subject to current restrictions.

The campsite is small enough that considerate use of lighting and voices makes a noticeable difference. Pack compactly and keep the shared shelter and access routes clear.

Access, reception and arrival#

The campground is around 10km east of Robertson via a mixture of sealed and unsealed road. NSW National Parks lists normal 2WD access. Mobile reception is limited, so save the booking confirmation and route before leaving town and pick up water or forgotten supplies in Robertson.

Check the local alerts immediately before travel. On 10 September 2026, alerts included an ongoing fox-baiting program in and around Budderoo National Park through 13 January 2027. Do not touch baits; pets are prohibited in any case. Park entry fees do not apply in the Carrington Falls area.

Falls, lookouts and water safety#

Carrington Falls and its lookouts are the obvious draw, with nearby tracks through rainforest and access to natural swimming holes. Conditions around waterfalls and rivers can change quickly. Stay behind barriers, supervise children and assess water conditions rather than treating a popular swimming place as automatically safe.

Four sites means the campground can feel very different from the busier visitor areas around the falls. Plan enough time to explore after day visitors leave, but do not assume that proximity makes facilities or phone service available overnight.
