Batchelor Holiday Park

Plan a Batchelor Holiday Park camping stay near Litchfield, with site choices, facilities, pet rules, booking terms and practical camper insights.

Batchelor Holiday Park is a family-run caravan park in tropical gardens and native bushland at the edge of Batchelor, the gateway town for Litchfield National Park. It gives campers a practical middle ground between basic national-park camping and a full holiday resort: shaded sites, hot showers, laundry, a pool and family activities, while shops and the tavern remain within walking distance.

The park is pet-friendly on approved camping sites, but its dog rules are stricter than that label alone suggests. Site type also matters. A large caravan needing a slab and sullage has different options from a tent camper seeking shade and grass.

Getting there#

Address: 37 Rum Jungle Road, Batchelor NT 0845

The operator places the park about 98km from Darwin. Use Batchelor as the last straightforward stop for fuel, groceries and local advice before day trips into Litchfield. Check the NT Government Litchfield page for current access, closures and swimming-area advice; conditions inside the national park can change independently of the holiday park.

Reception is normally open from 7am to 7pm. If you will arrive outside those hours, contact the park during reception hours so it can arrange access. The published booking terms also ask guests to reconfirm within 24 hours of arrival.

Choosing a campsite#

The official caravan and camping guide divides sites by surface, power and setup size:

  • Ensuite powered sites: large sites with a private shower, toilet, basin, washing machine and clothesline. The operator says they can fit everything from a HiAce campervan to a vehicle over 70 feet with slide-outs.
  • Powered sites: power, water, sullage and a slab. Most have shade, and some are drive-through sites suited to large caravans.
  • Powered bush sites: grassy sites with power and water in a more natural, shaded setting. These are aimed at smaller caravans, motorhomes, campervans, camper trailers and tents.
  • Non-powered sites: grass and shade in the bush section, also intended for smaller rigs and tents.
  • Under-cover camping: a roofed tent area with a concrete table and bench seats.

For a large rig, book a standard or ensuite powered site rather than assuming a bush site will fit. For a tent, compare the grassy non-powered area with the covered option: the former offers a more natural site, while the latter gives reliable shelter from sun or rain.

Facilities and activities#

The park's facilities page lists:

  • showers, toilets and a shared amenities block
  • washing machines, dryers and clotheslines
  • barbecue facilities
  • a shaded swimming pool
  • an 18-hole mini-golf course
  • free outdoor movie nights
  • free Wi-Fi and full Telstra mobile coverage
  • digital free-to-air television reception
  • tourist information and booking help
  • daily native-bird feeding
  • onsite parking

The operator publishes bird-feeding times of around 7:30am and 5:45pm, but activities can change. Check at reception rather than planning a tight itinerary around an online time.

Dogs and park conditions#

Dogs require advance approval; arrival with a dog does not guarantee acceptance. The current dog conditions require dogs to remain supervised and on a lead no longer than two metres whenever outside the van or tent. Dogs cannot enter the pool, amenities, playground, reception or other common areas, and management can end a stay if a dog is disruptive.

The park's homepage separately says pets are not allowed in cabins or villas without express approval. Confirm the site, dog and any bond conditions directly before paying.

What campers say#

The park publishes a set of recent Google review excerpts, while Tripadvisor discussions provide a longer history. Recurring traveller themes include:

  • Campers frequently praise the grassy shade and level sites, particularly after long, hot Top End drives.
  • Clean amenities, hot water and friendly hands-on management are repeated strengths in recent reports.
  • Bird feeding, mini golf and the pool give families something to do after Litchfield day trips. The shaded pool is described as refreshing, though some campers find it colder than expected.
  • The bush sites feel quieter and greener than a typical roadside park, while the in-town position keeps shops and meals walkable.
  • Wildlife is part of the setting. Older independent reports advise securing food against possums and other nocturnal visitors.

These are traveller observations, not guarantees about site shade, cleanliness, activity times or wildlife. Ask for the site qualities that matter when booking.

Booking and cancellation terms#

Book through the official Batchelor Holiday Park portal. The park takes a deposit equal to the first night's site fee, with the balance due at check-in. Its published terms also mention a $200 security bond, so confirm whether that applies to your camping booking.

As checked on 30 August 2026, changes or cancellations made more than seven days before arrival receive 90% of the deposit back. Within seven days, the deposit is forfeited; early departure is not refunded. Policies can change, so read the live terms before payment.

Can't get a booking?#

Site type matters here: an empty tent patch will not replace a sold-out big-rig, ensuite or powered site. If every suitable Batchelor Holiday Park option is unavailable, set up a free CampWatch alert and we'll text when matching availability returns. No app, no account — just your phone number.
