Pretty Beach is the comfort-forward national-park choice: hot showers, powered sites, laundry, rubbish bins and an on-site office, all close to a sheltered-looking beach and coastal walks. Choose it for family connection or an easier first camping trip. Skip it if your deep priority is a tiny, primitive camp with almost no shared-facility traffic—the 55-site layout and cabins create a more social stay.
Best site for the trip you want#
The November 2025 official layout distinguishes tent-only, medium (up to 4.6m) and large (over 4.6m) sites, power points, facilities and a separate walk-in tent area. It does not verify shade or privacy for each number.

The layout shows fireplaces only at sites 2–4, 6–7, 14–18, 21, 23–24, 36, 39, 41–44, 46, 49, 52, 55, 57 and 59–60. That map includes numbers beyond the headline 55-site inventory, so use the live booking category and office allocation rather than assuming every mapped number is currently sold as a campsite.
Arrival without guesswork#
From the Princes Highway at Termeil, take Bawley Point Road for 5km, continue into Shearwater Crescent, turn right on Murramarang Road, then slight left on Merry Beach Road and right on Pretty Beach Road. Arrive after noon and check in at the on-site office. If it is unattended, the official instruction is to read the whiteboard—not to select an apparently empty pitch. Check out before 11am; late fees may apply.
Before unhitching, confirm the site number, power status, equipment fit and the safe orientation for your awning. Locate the amenities, tap, rubbish point and beach path. Kangaroos and other wildlife frequent the campground, so keep food secured and give animals space.
Comfort, water and total cost#
Pretty Beach has hot showers, toilets, powered and unpowered sites, free gas/electric barbecues, some wood barbecues, picnic tables, bins and a coin-operated washing machine. Firewood and ice are sold at the office. Tank water is not potable; boil or treat it, or carry drinking water. Mobile service is limited, so save the booking and map offline.
The live quote varies by date, equipment, occupancy and power. Park entry is extra—currently $8 per vehicle per day—and is not included in camping fees. Group bookings cover up to 40 people or nine sites online; larger groups need an enquiry. Compare the complete checkout total, not a traveller's old nightly price.
Plan a worthwhile day#
Use the Murramarang South Coast Walk connections shown on the campground layout: the Mt Durras and Snapper routes leave from the Pretty Beach area. Choose a signed out-and-back segment that suits the group, download the official map and turn around early enough to return in daylight. A gentler day pairs the short beach access with wildlife watching from camp. Pretty Beach is unpatrolled; check conditions and use a patrolled beach when safe swimming is the priority.
The established amenities improve comfort but do not by themselves establish wheelchair access to a particular site, shower or beach. Campers with access needs should call the office on 02 4457 2019 to match a site and facility route.
