Lake Moogerah Caravan Park

Choose between unpowered lake lawns and reserved powered sites, understand arrival and allocation, and plan swimming, boating, fires and family comfort.

Lake Moogerah is for campers wanting open lawn, mountain views and a water-focused family weekend. The main decision is not a magic site number: it is whether to accept first-arrival choice on an unpowered lawn or pay for the certainty and convenience of a reserved powered caravan area.

It is a poor fit if you need a guaranteed lakefront pitch, bring a dog, rely on a generator or expect a quiet boutique park on a busy weekend. Boats, day visitors, children and group camping are part of the setting. For a calmer trip, choose dates outside peak periods and ask the park about event and group load before booking.

Choose the area that solves your biggest problem#

The official park map shows two broad unpowered lawns—Sunrise Camping and Mother's Day Camping—plus the powered/cabin rows, reception, main amenities, camp kitchen, playground, day-use area and two boat ramps.

  • Powered caravan convenience: choose the reserved powered category if power, a shorter amenities/kitchen walk and a mostly concrete annexe slab matter more than a free-form lakeside setup. Confirm rig and awning dimensions before payment.
  • Unpowered space and choice: unpowered sites are not allocated. Check in first, then choose a lawful position in a designated lawn. Arrive with a preferred and fallback area because an occupied favourite does not create a reservation.
  • Young children: inspect the distance and sightline between your setup, road, playground and water. A lake-edge position may feel scenic but increases supervision work.
  • Sleep and shelter: compare exposure to wind, boat-ramp/day-use movement, vehicle headlights, level ground and distance to toilets. The map proves location, not shade, quiet or drainage.

Do not spread into a buffer around another group simply because the lawn is unmarked. Park staff cap capacity and require suitable separation.

Arrival: check in before claiming grass#

The park is at 1 Muller Park Road, Moogerah. Use the signed entrance and report to reception before setting up. Powered guests confirm their assigned area; unpowered guests then inspect available lawful space. Before unhitching, walk the footprint, find the amenities route, identify the nearest safe water access and make sure your vehicle can leave without crossing another camp.

The public pages do not establish one universal check-in time across every product, so use the time on your booking confirmation rather than a directory listing. Peak seasons have a two-night minimum. Save the map and confirmation in case reception coverage or mobile service differs from what a third-party directory reports.

Comfort, food and fire setup#

The park has toilets, hot showers, laundry, a playground, kiosk and a large camp kitchen. The kitchen includes electric barbecues, microwaves, kettles, fridge/freezer, sinks, power points and preparation space. Treat shared refrigeration as convenience, not guaranteed capacity for an entire group.

Generators and pets are prohibited. Campfires require a portable above-ground container on legs that catches all ash and embers. Do not build a rock ring or use a chainsaw. Buy firewood onsite or bring it pre-cut, and use the labelled ash drum only after everything is cold. A current fire restriction overrides the normal rule.

Build the day around the designated water areas#

Seqwater lists swimming, paddling, fishing and powered boating at AG Muller Park. The designated swimming area has no lifeguards, and ramps—not an arbitrary piece of shore—must be used for launching. Check current Seqwater notices and the recreation guide before entering the water.

The swimming area reopened on 17 September 2026 after a closure, which is exactly why an old “great for swimming” review is not a safety source. A practical day is an early paddle or fish in suitable conditions, lunch back at camp, then designated swimming while the group still has daylight. Keep a shore-based plan for algae, wind or closure days.

What campers say#

The public evidence is mixed rather than a simple consensus. Tripadvisor and CamperMate support the lake-and-mountain setting and family recreation appeal. Reviews also vary on crowding, noise and amenities experience, which is plausible for a large lawn park across different weekends.

No public review set proves the quietest lawn, reliable phone signal or a permanently shaded lakeside position. Use reviews to anticipate popularity, then use the official allocation rule and an on-foot inspection to choose.

Booking, alternatives and final questions#

Use the live booking portal for category, nightly price, minimum stay and cancellation terms. For a group, contact management before booking; functions and mass gatherings require prior arrangement.

If lake swimming and boating are the priority, Moogerah’s designated facilities are a strong fit. If the group wants a smaller non-motorised-water setting, compare current rules at nearby Lake Maroon before switching; if powered-site certainty matters more than lake access, compare a serviced Scenic Rim holiday park. Do not assume either alternative accepts the same equipment or activities.

Before paying, ask: powered or unpowered, guaranteed allocation or arrival choice, how much water-edge supervision is acceptable, and what the group will do if the swimming area closes. Those answers matter more than chasing an unsupported “best site.”

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Which camping area is best at Lake Moogerah Caravan Park?

There is no universal best pitch. Unpowered sites are unallocated and chosen after check-in across the mapped Sunrise and Mother's Day camping lawns. Inspect lake-edge exposure, vehicle traffic, level ground, distance to amenities and the day-use boundary before committing.

Can I reserve a lakefront unpowered site?

No. The operator says only powered areas are reserved; unpowered camping is first-in, best-dressed after check-in. A favourite area may already be occupied, so arrive with two acceptable setups rather than a promised view.

What do powered sites include?

Powered caravan sites are limited, reserved and mostly have a concrete annexe slab. They sit close to the main amenities and camp kitchen. Confirm rig length, slab orientation and site fit in the live booking before paying.

Can I swim and launch a boat at Lake Moogerah?

Use only the designated swimming area and signed boat ramps; there are no lifeguards. Seqwater reported the swimming area reopened on 17 September 2026, but lake notices can change, so check again on travel day.

Are dogs, generators and campfires allowed?

Dogs and generators are not permitted. Fires require a portable raised container that retains ash and embers, and remain subject to restrictions. Firewood is sold onsite or may be brought pre-cut; chainsaws are banned.
