Jacobs Well Tourist Park is a small foreshore park built around fishing, boating and dog-friendly camping rather than pools or resort entertainment. It sits on the southern waterways of Moreton Bay, with the public ramp, swimming enclosure, shops and tavern all immediately outside or opposite the park.
This is a particularly practical base for campers bringing a boat, a large rig or a dog. It is less compelling for travellers seeking surf-beach frontage or a packed activity program, and the coastal wetland setting makes insect preparation important.
Getting there and arriving#
Address: 1161 Pimpama–Jacobs Well Road, Jacobs Well QLD 4208
The official overview describes the park as about 15 minutes from the Pacific Highway. The park map shows the shopping centre and tavern opposite, a public boat ramp and jetty beside the park, and direct gated access to the foreshore and off-leash area.
Sites check in from 11am and check out by 10am. Contact reception in advance if arriving after hours; the operator's current terms prohibit arrivals after 8:30pm. One vehicle is included, and boats, trailers or extra vehicles require space and approval.
Powered and unpowered site choices#
Jacobs Well advertises a broader equipment range than many coastal Gold Coast parks:
- Powered slab and powered grass sites cater for caravans, camper trailers and other touring setups.
- Large powered sites are designed for vans up to 12m and fifth-wheelers.
- Unpowered sites accept a range of self-sufficient camping equipment.
- Large unpowered waterview sites trade power for more space and a position nearer the water.
The park's current camping categories are dog-friendly, but acceptance remains on application and within designated areas. Maximum occupancy is six people per site. Published site pages say the base rate includes two people, with extra nightly charges currently listed as $10 for children aged 4–15 and $15 for adults; confirm the live quote because rates change.
Measure the entire equipment length, including drawbar, attachments and slide-outs. Large capacity does not mean every site can take every layout, and preferred numbers are not guaranteed.
Facilities, boats and fires#
The compact layout has one central amenity block with hot showers, toilets, an accessible/parents' bathroom and coin laundry. Other facilities include a camp kitchen, barbecues, picnic area, chemical dump point, clotheslines and a boat/car wash beside reception. There is no swimming pool inside the park; the public swimming enclosure and recreation areas are on the adjoining foreshore.
The boat ramp is public rather than inside the boom gate. That is convenient for launching into the southern Moreton Bay channels, while the park map's boat wash helps after retrieval. Keep bait and burley out of the shared kitchen refrigerators.
Jacobs Well is an exception to the operator's general fire ban. The guest information permits fires in a park-approved receptacle that is raised off the ground and fully enclosed or fitted with a mesh lid. Fire pits are currently advertised for hire at $10 per night. Approval and fire restrictions can change, so confirm before lighting anything.
There is no park Wi-Fi, although the operator reports excellent mobile coverage and 5G in most areas.
Bringing a dog#
Dogs are welcome year-round on application in designated sites and selected cabins. The pet policy requires dogs to remain leashed and under control within the park. They cannot enter the camp kitchen, barbecues, amenities or other shared facilities.
The fenced off-leash area and dog-friendly beach are outside the camping loops but directly accessible from the foreshore. Tell the park you are travelling with a dog when booking rather than assuming any remaining site can be reassigned.
What campers say#
Recent Tripadvisor reviews, CamperMate reports and Google excerpts on the official park page show a balanced pattern:
- Walkability is better than the rural approach suggests: guests repeatedly value having the tavern, IGA, bakery, takeaway food, pharmacy and ramp within a short walk.
- Clean amenities, friendly staff and spacious-feeling grounds are common positives, including in 2026 reviews.
- Mosquitoes and biting midges are a repeated complaint across years and sources. Pack effective repellent, screen the setup and be prepared around dawn and dusk.
- The park is generally described as relaxed, but waterfront positions can hear early boat, ute and fishing activity. Noise experience appears site- and day-dependent.
- It is strongest for people who fish, boat, walk a dog or want a quiet base. Reviewers without those interests sometimes find the local activity range limited.
These are traveller opinions, not promises about insects, quietness, cleanliness or site size.
Booking and cancellation terms#
Use the official booking portal and choose a category that fits the rig, power needs and dog arrangements. Off-peak bookings require the first night's deposit, with the balance due on arrival; peak bookings are paid in full when booked.
Written off-peak cancellations within 28 days forfeit the deposit. Peak cancellation charges are 25% from 40–29 days, 50% from 28–15 days and no refund at 14 days or less. Dynamic rates, minimum stays and payment terms can vary for events and long stays.
Can't get a booking?#
A cancellation needs to match more than the dates: large rigs, waterview preferences, power and dog approval narrow the usable inventory. If the suitable category is unavailable, set up a free CampWatch alert and we'll text when matching availability returns. No app, no account — just your phone number.
Campground details were checked against Gold Coast Tourist Parks' official park, site, pet, guest-information, map and terms pages, plus public traveller reviews, on 1 September 2026.
