Burleigh Beach Tourist Park is a compact, beachside base for travellers who care more about location than resort-style facilities. Its powered slab sites sit opposite Burleigh Beach and within walking distance of the national-park headland, James Street dining, shops, clubs and public transport.
The park does not advertise unpowered camping, pets or an onsite swimming pool. What it offers instead is a firm powered setup and the ability to park once, then explore Burleigh on foot.
Getting there and checking in#
Address: 36 Goodwin Terrace, Burleigh Heads QLD 4220
The official park guide places James Street about 500 metres away. Burleigh Beach is across the road, while the Oceanview Track around Burleigh Head gives walkers access toward Tallebudgera Creek.
Sites check in from 11am and check out by 10am. If you expect to arrive after reception closes, contact the park beforehand; the current terms do not permit arrivals after 8:30pm. Reception currently operates 8am–6pm Monday to Friday and 9am–5pm on weekends and public holidays, except Christmas Day.
Powered-site setup#
Burleigh's official powered-site page says every site has:
- a concrete slab
- a powerhead
- a sullage drain
- access to the camp kitchen, park barbecues and amenity block
Sites vary in size and configuration. They can accommodate vans, camper trailers, campervans and tents, but allocation is based on the dimensions and equipment type supplied at booking. Measure the full setup, including drawbar, bike racks, slide-outs and rear attachments. Tell reception if your tow vehicle or other vehicle exceeds five metres.
The maximum is six guests per site. As checked on 31 August 2026, the base rate covers two people; the official site page lists extra nightly charges of $10 for children aged 4–15 and $15 per adult. Those charges can change, so use the live quote as the final price.
Only one vehicle space is provided per site and site-number requests are not guaranteed. Review the official park map before requesting a position: it shows a small layout with the camp kitchen and recreation room near the Goodwin Terrace side.
Facilities and connectivity#
Published facilities include toilets and hot showers, laundry, a camp kitchen, barbecues, recreation room, dump point, accessible bathroom and parents' bathroom. The accessible and parents' bathrooms use a PIN supplied by reception.
There is no park Wi-Fi. The operator reports strong mobile coverage and 5G in most areas, while some sites may receive the City of Gold Coast's public SurfNetwork. Treat that public service as a bonus rather than a reliable work connection.
Burleigh Beach Tourist Park is 100% smoke and vape free, and smoking requires leaving the park. Dogs and other pets are not accepted.
What campers say#
Recent and recurring themes from Tripadvisor, CamperMate and Google-review excerpts on the official page help set expectations:
- Walkability is the consistent standout. Campers repeatedly mention the beach, cafes, restaurants, shops and headland walk as reasons the stay feels worth it.
- Amenities are generally described as clean, and helpful staff are a recurring positive across the operator's Google excerpts and independent reviews.
- The park is compact and can feel full. Do not expect the space, greenery or privacy of an inland holiday park.
- Shade appears uneven. One CamperMate report specifically found little shade or privacy, so ask about afternoon sun if that matters to your setup.
- Value opinions are mixed. Some campers consider the tariff high for the facilities, while others regard the central Burleigh location as the thing they are paying for.
These are traveller opinions rather than promises about shade, quiet, cleanliness, price or your eventual site allocation.
Booking and cancellation terms#
Book through the official booking portal. Standard site check-in is 11am, and the park needs accurate equipment dimensions before allocating a site.
The Gold Coast Tourist Parks cancellation terms vary by season. Off-peak cancellations made within 28 days forfeit the deposit. During peak periods, cancellation charges are 25% of the total booking value from 40–29 days, 50% from 28–15 days and no refund at 14 days or less. Written notice is required. Minimum stays and payment schedules can also change for peak dates and events, so read your confirmation rather than relying only on this summary.
Can't get a booking?#
Because Burleigh has one camping category and a compact footprint, cancellations need to fit your equipment rather than simply reopen any site. If the park is sold out, set up a free CampWatch alert and we'll text when matching availability returns. No app, no account — just your phone number.
Campground details were checked against Gold Coast Tourist Parks' official park, powered-site, map and terms pages, plus public traveller reviews, on 31 August 2026.
